Volunteer Team Leader
Volunteer Position Description

Duties:

• Assist the Executive Director with writing or modifying existing position descriptions for needed volunteer assignments, and making these opportunities known through the outlets available to the Museum
• Interview prospective volunteers and make placement recommendations to the Executive Director
• Work with Executive Director to design and co-present volunteer training
• Schedule volunteers to ensure needed coverage
• Monitor volunteer attendance and performance, and manage on-going recognition
• Bring any attendance or performance issues to the attention of the Executive Director
• Track and compile volunteer hours
• Work with Program Developer on volunteer staffing for classes, lectures, and special events
• Assist Executive Director in planning and carrying out annual volunteer recognition event at Museum

Standards:

• Position description writing shall be done in a timely fashion, and to current volunteer management standards
• Placement recommendations shall take into account both the requirements of the position, and the interests of the potential volunteer
• Performance and attendance issues shall be reported to the Executive Director in a timely fashion
• Volunteer hours will be compiled and reported in a timely fashion to the Executive Director once a month, and at year's end
• VTL shall work well with other Museum staff, paid and unpaid

Commitment:

• The Volunteer Team Leader should be willing to commit a minimum of 16 hours per week to this volunteer position.
