North Star Museum Opening of Girl Scout Exhibit at the Landmark Center
On Tuesday March 12th, North Star Museum of Boy Scouting and Girl Scouting held the grand opening of a year long exhibit honoring the 90th anniversary of the Girl Scouts of the USA. The festivities started with the Pledge of Alligiance and included opening remarks by John Guthmann, chairman of North Star. There were also remarks by officials of the Girl Scout Council of St. Croix Valley and some recollections of the early days of Girl Scouting by Helen Fleck, former Girl Scout and longtime leader. In attendance at the event were members of North Star, Girl Scout officials, several Girl Scout Troops (including Daisies, Brownies, Juniors and Seniors) and members of Friends Forever - a group of long time Girl Scout leaders. Also participating in the opening were members of the Ramsey County Historical Society. After the opening remarks, a ribbon cutting ceremony was held to officially open the exhibit. This was followed by singing "Happy Birthday" to Girl Scouting and birthday cake was served. Following the festivities, everyone toured the exhibit. Girl Scouts teamed up with members of Friends Forever and participated in a scavenger hunt to find and identify items in the displays. A great time was had by all!
