The North Star Museum welcomes Katherine “Kate” Knuth – a leader in our community with deep roots in Boy Scouting -- as the next Pause That Refreshes speaker.
Part of a Scouting family, Kate began her leadership in the BSA with her Venturing Crew, serving as the 2000–2001 National Venturing President. Kate took part in the BSA’s Report to the Nation, visiting with President George W. Bush in the Oval Office. She also served on the National Jamboree staff and attended the Norwegian National Jamboree in 2001.
In addition to her extensive Scouting achievements, Kate has also been a leader in local political circles having served as a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2006–2010. Kate has degrees from the University of Chicago and Oxford University, and attended the University of Oslo on a Fulbright Scholarship. Recently inducted into our Founders Hall, Kate missed the Founders Hall event and we look forward to honoring her achievements when she visits us on December 12.
Join us at the Museum on Friday, December 12, 2014 from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. for “Pause That Refreshes,” featuring community leader Kate Knuth. Cost is $12 ($10 for museum members) and includes a light lunch. Please RSVP to Stephanie Weiger at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 651-748-2880.
Fall classes are in session. A few spaces are available for Citizenship in the Nation (December 27). To view the schedule and obtain a registration form, click here.
Give ‘camping out’ a new spin with an overnight campout at the North Star Museum of Boy Scouting & Girl Scouting!
You bring your sleeping bag and a sense of adventure and we do the rest!
Our ‘camp counselors’ have the girls and boys busy, busy with all kinds of fun activities and crafts that include campfire with s’mores, songs, skits, Pinewood Derby track, a movie and more! Then it’s lights out to sleep in the gallery in sleeping bags and tents. IN the morning it’s more activities and crafts, a pancake breakfast and take home souvenirs!
This event can be customized to fit your Scouting unit's needs!
An absolute bargain at just $50 per person (with $100 deposit and minimum of 15 people) and a GREAT way for troops and families to bond and have fun! (And this is a great event for little campers who are camping for the first time!) Boys, check out this flyer; and girls, check out this flyer for additional details.
While all of the scheduled weekends for 2014 are full, contact Shirley at email@example.com to get on the waiting list.
“Club Bruce,” our NEW Jr. Museum Membership for kids is a big hit! Any child up to 11 years old can join, and it's just $35 a year.
Kids love the Bruce the Moose Adventure Pack with a reflective backpack, water bottle, moose plush, and compass/whistle/flashlight!
Parents love the membership benefits like discounts on merchandise in the gift shop, discounts on programs and meetings, and invitations to members only events!
BOTH kids and parents will love the quarterly newsletter, “Moose News”, that goes out to all Club Bruce members with information about moose and other Minnesota wildlife, the environment, events at the museum, milestones in Scouting history, etc. Click here to see the Spring issue.
And here’s something REALLY COOL. We are sharing a percentage of the proceeds from all Club Bruce memberships with the Moose Research Project of the Minnesota DNR. This is a team of researchers committed to saving our Minnesota moose and trying to discover why the Minnesota populations of moose are dropping.
Club Bruce is a great educational tool for parents, teachers and Scout leaders, and also makes a wonderful gift for that special kid or little Boy Scout or Girl Scout!
Be a part of the adventure! Join Club Bruce TODAY! Contact Shirley (Bruce’s assistant!) at firstname.lastname@example.org
