About North Star Scouting Memorabilia MISSION To collect, preserve, share share and interpret history and significance of Boy Scouting and Girl Scouting in the Upper Midwest. North Star Scouting Memorabilia, Inc was founded in 1976 as a Nonprofit Corporation. Our worldwide collections cover both Boy Scouting and Girl Scouting. We are not financially supported by either the Boy Scouts of America or the Girl Scouts of the United States of America. Support for the Museum and all of its programs come from both membership fees and generous Friends of the Museum donations. In addition to being a nonprofit corporation North Star is also a Federal 501(c)(3) organization. As such all contributions are tax deductible as allowed by law. During the past 33 years, North Star Scouting has acquired over 150,000 items of memorabilia. These include uniforms, books, magazines, pictures, movies, tapes, histories records and many other artifacts. About 3,000 additional items are acquired every year. Over 98% of the items in our collection were donated, not purchased by the museum. We are constantly looking for Scouting memories and memorabilia to fill in our collections and we welcome donations. North Star Scouting is basically an all volunteer organization. You do not have to be an active or past member of the Boy Scouting or Girl Scouting to become a member of the Museum. Those persons who support our mission are always welcome. We have members from across the country. To become a member complete a membership application .
