North Star Museum at NOAC 2002
Every two years, Order of the Arrow members from across the country gather on the campus of a major university for the National Order of the Arrow Conference (NOAC).The National Order of the Arrow Conference is Scouting's second-largest national program event. These gatherings draw over 7000 Arrowmen, traveling from as far away as Europe and Asia, for five days of training, fun, and fellowship. NOAC 2002 was held from July 27th to August 1st on the campus of Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. The Special Events Committee invited museums and individuals to provide displays for the Order of the Arrow Museum. North Star was again invited to participate and according to museum staff there were over 5,000 Arrowmen and visitors who visited the NOAC Museum this year. For NOAC 2002, North Star provided four uniformed mannequins in our brand new cases. The mannequin displays were of Scouts and Scouters from 1915, 1930's, 1950's and the 1970's. Other items included Order of the Arrow Handbooks, neckerchief slides and a wall display. Also included were eleven new table top display cases with memorabilia from books to mess kits, and from canteens to a crystal radio set. Special thanks to Joanne Robbins and Richard Carroll for preparation of the displays; John Palan, Bob Andres and John Raymond for transportation and set up of the displays; and Bill Lenker and his crew for take down. This page revised 08/06/02
