North Star Museum Girl Scout 90th Anniversary Thirteen Month Exhibit Closes
On Tuesday March 12th, North Star Museum of Boy Scouting and Girl Scouting held a ribbon cutting for the thirteen month long exhibit honoring the 90th anniversary of the Girl Scouts of the USA. The exhibit was located at the Landmark Center in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and ended on April 25th 2003. The exhibit "90 Years of Girl Scouts: Still Growing Strong" was in collaboration with the Girl Scout Council of St. Croix Valley and the Ramsey County Historical Society. The displays chronicled the history of the Girl Scouts, especially in Ramsey County. The exhibit described the founding of the organization by Juliette Gordon Low and some of the many changes throughout its 90 year history. Displayed materials included uniforms from various decades of Girl Scouting, books, information on the history of cookie sales and other memorabilia. Curators made season changes to the displayed objects throughout the year long exhibit. This pdf file will give more details on the display in a printable flyer form.
Girl Scouts Troops were encouraged to visit the exhibit, and many troops took advantage of the opportunity. Girls were able to participate in a Scavenger Hunt to find items in the exhibit. Girls were also able to earn a special patch (see the Landmark Adventures Patch form) while viewing the displays.
